Spring fun in Alaska!

After returning home from my Nepal trip, I promptly had orthoscopic surgury on my knee, and then off to Alaska. We visited our good friends Jimmie and Laura Hendricks who live north of the park. They have an amazing certified organic garden up there and a beautiful homestead out in the wilderness.

Two and a half weeks after the surgury, my knee was feeling pretty good, so we fly into the Ruth Gorge for some climbing with our friend Leighann. We had great weather and conditions, and we climbed a peak called 11,300. It was a super fun alpine climb with mixed snow, ice, and rock climbing. We summited and headed a few hours down the ridge where we camped. In our small 2 person tent the three of us cuddled into 2 sleeping bags. We placed the ropes underneath our thin foam pads for extra insulation.

The next day we descended the rest of the way down embarking on about 10 rappeles to reach the glacier. Before heading back to the mountain house the next day, we skied a beautiful 2000ft coulior that cought our eye near camp. The snow was amazing leaving us with a serious adrenaline rush.
